Roberts and Rogers Howell Mountain 2005

93 pts. The Wine Spectator - Insider April 2009

"Intense and rustic, with a potent mix of laomy earth, mineral, dried currant, sage and dusty berry flavors that are compact,

full-bodied, tight and tannic.  Finishes with a burst of blueberry and wild berry fruit.  Drink now through 2016."

"Cellar Selection.  Here's one for the cellar.  The tannins swamp the mouth, giving a hard, astringent edge. But the wine is
beautifully balanced and dry, with a deep core of black currants, blueberries, spicy plums, ceda and minerals.
     Impressive.  Best after 2010.

Roberts + Rogers on Howell Mountain
2004 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)
94 Points
As with all Howell Mountain Cabs, this one will need a little time to mature and come into full balance but it is a sure winner. While I tasted this wine during a Howell Mountain winery tasting with numerous other wines, this one stood out with its rich, ripe fruit and and concentration of flavors. It has a deep red color with black cherry, plum and blackberry aromas on the nose. There is a nice balance of fruit and tannins with a predominance of the blackberry. The wine is intense and the tannins are pleasingly velvety and long through the finish.
This was the inaugural vintage for Roberts+Rogers and they have hit a home run!

IT’S TIME FOR WINE by Monty and Sara Preiser - September 29, 2009

2005 Roberts and Rogers Cabernet Sauvignon ($75): Only the second vintage from this Howell Mountain property, this wine is already earning high scores from well know “raters.” A huge mouthful of lush dark fruits finely balanced with tannins.
